John Hartson identifies the advantage that Arsenal have over Chelsea and Spurs in top four hunt

John Hartson has said that Arsenal will be hoping to capitalise on a poor start to the season for their rivals.

The Gunners currently sit in third place in the Premier League table after an excellent start to the campaign and will be hoping that they can continue this form over the coming weeks and months.

The same can't be said for rivals such as Manchester United and Tottenham who have endured a below part start to the season.

We may only be eight games into the season, but speaking to the  Daily Record , Hartson says that his former club will be hoping to make the most of their rivals' respective plights.

He said: “I think [Unai] Emery is trying to build something special.

“They have been a bit tight with the purse strings in recent years with the stadium building but you only have to look at the players they have brought in this summer, Nicolas Pepe for £70m, £25m for Kieran [Tierney] and £52m for Lacazette a couple of seasons ago.

“Arsenal are on the right track.

“They will be looking to make the top four and they might be able to capitalise on Chelsea not being able to sign players because there is a transfer ban.

“You look at Spurs and they are in a bit of a mess with players running their deals down and Delle Alli not in the team.

“Is their manager happy? They are in a bit of turmoil and so Arsenal will be pushing for a top-four place.”
