John Hartson branded 'laziest' Celtic player ever by Martin O'Neill with hilarious one-liner

Legendary Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has claimed John Hartson is the laziest player he managed during his decades in the dugout.

The Welshman was a mainstay of the O'Neill era as he formed a deadly partnership alongside the likes of Henrik Larsson and Chris Sutton.

Hartson may have put his name in the Parkhead history books with six pieces of major silverware during his stint in Glasgow's east end.

However, at times O'Neill admits he was far from his biggest fan.

The Irishman was in raucous form as he ripped into Hartson at a Celtic Q&A event at The Hydro with the heroes who reached the 2003 UEFA Cup Final.

He told the former striker and the Glasgow crowd: "I know your lovely family is here but I have to tell them you were the laziest player I ever managed.

"I shouted at you during one game, John get warmed up you're coming off."

Hartson has previously claimed that O'Neill was the most demanding player he every played under.

He told OTB last year: "Martin O'Neill was very demanding. I think if you played well and you scored, you played the next week. If you didn't and you didn't play as well as you could, if you weren't up to standard, he'd have no hesitation about taking you out of the team."
