John Harbaugh: Mark Andrews’ injury is nonstructural, he should play Week 4

The Baltimore Ravens offense has leaned on second-year tight end Mark Andrews this season. He leads the team with 19 receptions over three games, turning those into 235 yards and two touchdowns. But Andrews has been battling a foot injury for the last few weeks that has kept him out of practices, including the first two of this week.

On Friday, coach John Harbaugh gave an update on Andrews’ injury status. He said it was a nonstructural issue and just part of a football season. Harbaugh also noted the Ravens are planning on him playing in Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns.

Andrews himself seemed confident he’d be on the field Sunday against Cleveland. He said the injury is improving.

Andrews was a popular breakout pick for this season, and after his rookie campaign, it was easy to see why. In spite of playing in a conservative offense last year, Andrews caught 34 passes for 552 yards and three touchdowns. He showed up as a big-play threat with sure hands and as a mismatch against both linebackers and safeties due to his size and speed.

This year, Andrews has built on all of that. He still has great hands, catching nearly everything that’s thrown his way, and he continues to be a huge mismatch. Against a Browns secondary that looks like it will be missing several starters, Andrews should have another spectacular game if he’s able to play.
