John Goodman breaks silence on Roseanne cancellation: 'Everything's fine'

Multiple cast members from Roseanne have spoken out against Roseanne Barr and her racist Tweet that led to the show’s cancellation.

John Goodman, who stars as the titular character’s husband on the ABC show, has become the latest to break their silence.

However, rather than criticise Barr – which other cast members have done – the actor decided to remain neutral, telling ET News he would “rather say nothing than to cause more trouble.”

Goodman, a famed character actor who has appeared in everything from indie film favourites to multi-million blockbusters, added that: “Everything’s fine.”

Questioned about being upset that ABC has suspended their ‘For Your Consideration’ Emmy campaign for Roseanne, Goodman was unphased: “I wasn’t gonna get an Emmy anyway. I’ve been up there [11] times already, and if I didn’t get one I’m not gonna get one.”

Pressed further about appearing in a rumoured Roseanne spin-off without the titular character, he said: “You’ve heard more than I have.”

Meanwhile, Barr has blamed the racist Tweet on taking Ambien, leading to the pharmaceutical company behind the drug, Sanofi, to release a statement saying “racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication”.
