John Fury confirms Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul fight plan

John Fury has confirmed that Tommy Fury is keen to fight Jake Paul next but believes that the American could dodge a bout for the time being.

22-year-old Fury is set for his stateside debut on the undercard of Paul's fiercely-anticipated bout with Tyron Woodley in Cleveland, Ohio.

While it's Anthony Taylor on the card, plenty of speculation has been floating around regarding a future bout with YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul.

The pair have exchanged fighting words on social media and in the pre-fight press conference, with Paul hinting he brought Fury to the US in anticipation for a fight in the future.

Now, Tommy's father has confirmed that Fury's camp are eyeing a bout against Paul and, while they want it next, he doubts Paul is ready.

“I think the Jake Paul fight, looking in Jake Paul’s eyes, is a way off," he told BT Sport ahead of the bout against Taylor.

"He had plenty of bad blood to say when he was overseas in the US and Tommy was in the UK, about his missus being in other people’s DM’s, up close and personal it’s a lot different.

"When you look them in the eye, you know what a man has got for you and he [Tommy] has got bad intentions for Jake Paul and he knows it.

“That’s why I say it’s a way off. We want this fight next, we want it as soon as possible, but looking at Jake Paul, his demeanour, he knows that he can’t go there with Tommy.”

Fury headed into the bout against Taylor with a 6-0 record on his professional career.
