John Fleck is out of Scotland’s friendly against Holland after testing positive for coronavirus and will be forced to self-isolate in Spain.
The SFA confirmed the news as Steve Clarke’s squad prepare to leave their warm weather training camp for the clash with the Dutch in Portugal on Wednesday night.
Sheffield United midfielder Fleck - capped five times for his country - will remain in La Finca following the news.
However, the rest of Clarke’s 26-man Scotland squad returned negative test results ahead of the clash with the Dutch.
A statement read: “The Scottish FA can confirm that John Fleck has tested positive for COVID-19 at the Scotland National Team basecamp in La Finca.
As a result, he will self-isolate as per Spanish Government guidelines and therefore not fly to Portugal for tomorrow’s match against Netherlands.
The rest of the squad was retested for COVID-19 and returned negative results today.”
Scotland take on Frank de Boer’s star-studded Holland side in the Algarve Stadium as they step up preparations for their first major tournament in 23 years.
That will be followed by a friendly against Luxembourg on Sunday before that massive Euro 2020 Group D opener against Czech Republic on June 14 at Hampden.
