John Fleck had to receive urgent medical attention during Sheffield United 's match against Reading after collapsing on the pitch.
The Scotland midfielder was taken off on a stretcher during the worrying incident on Tuesday.
Fleck went to ground off the ball and both medical teams rushed on to the pitch to attend to him, while he appeared to receive oxygen.
The 30-year-old was stretchered off the pitch following a break in play during the Championship clash.
After the game manager Slavisa Jokanovic said: "I cannot comment on a lot of the things but John Fleck is conscious and is talking with the doctors and in the hospital
"He is in good hands and I don't want to comment much more. We hope everything is okay. I am not a doctor and don't want to comment too much but the news is positive and he is in good hands.
"This is a situation nobody wants but Fleck is a strong man. I don't want to get any information wrong but generally it's positive."
Skipper Billy Sharp rushed off the bench to help the medical team and assist his teammate to the ambulance after 10 minute break in play.
The Blades tweeted an update following the game stating: "John Fleck was conscious when he left the stadium via the ambulance gate.
"We’ll provide supporters with a further update once known. Get well soon, John."
Sheff Utd owner Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad tweeted: "Get well John Fleck."
