John Fashanu confronted by Ben Shephard after ex-footballer 'strangled' Celebrity SAS co-star

Good Morning Britain presenter Ben Shephard confronted John Fashanu after the ex-footballer strangled Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins co-star and Rudimental DJ Locksmith.

In startling scenes on Monday, the former Premiership pro was seen getting the DJ into a headlock - but didn't let go.

The celebrities had been split into two rival teams for a game of 'Murderball', which saw the recruits tasked with pushing a tyre to the rival team's goal line.

DJ Locksmith appeared visibly shaken by the encounter and John has admitted that he "got carried away" and "lost it".

Addressing the moment on GMB today, Ben remarked: "There was a moment watching that game of Murderball with you and DJ Locksmith going at it, that I felt really uncomfortable with.

"It felt that the control we see from you quite a lot and we’ve always seen, it’s this controlled aggression, certainly as a footballer and it had gone completely and something had flipped in you which meant you had gone so much further and you were actually choking him."

John insisted that he "got carried away", adding: "I never thought it would get to that level."

He said: "But football is a team game but SAS is all about individuals. You get carried away and you lose where you are, and at the moment I got carried away.

"I think that we had had a bit of backwards and forwards ourselves anyway, you are in a competitive mood and you’ve got to be in a competitive mood.

"He had actually hit me with the first tackle very very hard, he is a strong guy, and I was talking to him at the same time and I suppose that’s what we were supposed not to do.

"At the end of the day we were supposed to keep our own self-control, and I’ll be honest that time we lost it."
