Although officially retired, John Farnham has never really stopped singing, and in December he will clock up his 76th show in Sydney’s Qantas Credit Union Arena .
The Australian musical statesmen has held his place in the public eye since he released the hit Sadie the Cleaning Lady at age 18, and the 1967 song became the biggest-selling single in the the country. His 1986 single You’re the Voice peaked at number 1 on the national charts and his album Whispering Jack became the highest-sellingin Australia history.
He’s been named Australia on the Year, taken home 19 ARIA awards (Elton John once joked they should be renamed the John Farnham awards), holds an Order of Australia medal, and has starred on tv shows from Countdown to Hey Hey It’s Saturday. In this special concert, he will be joined by contemporaries Daryl Braithwaite and Ross Wilson & The Peaceniks.
