The first genuine contender to be the next Swansea City manager has emerged in the form of QPR assistant John Eustace.
WalesOnline understands the 41-year-old is among the frontrunners to replace Steve Cooper after his exit was confirmed on Wednesday night.
Eustace came close to landing the role two years ago when Cooper was chosen to succeed Graham Potter.
He, along with Lincoln boss Michael Appleton, have admirers at the club, although Appleton is currently taking a break from the game after announcing he has testicular cancer.
Former Swans U-23 boss Cameron Toshack is another name likely to be mentioned, but it's thought he has not received any formal contact.
Eustace began his managerial career at Kidderminster Harriers in 2016 after a playing career that saw him represent the likes of Stoke City, Watford and Derby County
He joined the QPR coaching staff when Steve McClaren was manager, having previously played under him at Derby. He had a short spell as caretaker manager towards the end of the 2018/19 season, helping keep the side in the Championship.
The likes of Eddie Howe and Frank Lampard were installed as early bookies' favourites following Cooper's departure, but the Swans' unwillingness to pay a big managerial salary makes such names fanciful.
