John Elway and Drew Lock weigh in on Joe Flacco’s mentorship comments

Broncos veteran quarterback Joe Flacco was asked earlier this week if its job to mentor rookie quarterback Drew Lock. Flacco was diplomatic in his response and essentially said the coaching staff is responsible for grooming Lock, which was a reasonable response.

Some members of the media and fans in Denver were upset with Flacco’s comments, going as far as to call the QB a bad teammate. Broncos general manager John Elway — and Lock himself — aren’t buying into the outrage.

Elway told KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis that he liked Flacco’s recent remarks and Lock told TMZ Sports that the veteran has been a good teammate.

“Me and Joe … he’s taught me a lot so far,” Lock told the website. “He’s been great to me.”

Judging from Elway’s remarks and Lock’s comments, it’s probably safe to say the outrage over Flacco’s take was overblown.

Lock will continue learning under Flacco while getting groomed by the team’s coaching staff. There’s no drama to see here.
