John Dorsey ‘trying to upgrade the back end’ of Browns roster with trades

Cleveland Browns GM John Dorsey was a busy man on Saturday. Dorsey engineered two trades in the waning hours of the 53-man roster deadline.

The Browns traded as-yet-undisclosed 2020 draft picks to acquire WR Taywan Taylor from Tennessee and OG Justin McCray from Green Bay, both on Saturday. That follows another 24-hour period where Dorsey traded for OG Wyatt Teller from Buffalo.

None of those new Browns figure to start, though Teller could eventually emerge as the top right guard on the roster. That was part of Dorsey’s plan, as he explained in a press release on Saturday.

“You’re trying to upgrade the back end of your roster. That’s what you’re trying to do,” Dorsey stated.

“Teller, that’s a depth move. And then when you add Justin McCray, that’s a depth move,” Dorsey continued.

The depth along the offensive line is a welcome addition. Austin Corbett has not looked game-ready, Kyle Kalis was waived-injured with concussion issues and rookie Drew Forbes is hobbled with a knee injury suffered in the final preseason game.
