John Dorsey on Kareem Hunt: ‘trust has to be earned’ before he plays for Browns

Cleveland Browns GM John Dorsey is facing some heat for signing controversial running back Kareem Hunt. Dorsey took the heat in person in a short press address on Monday.

Outfitted in his customary white sweatshirt with the simple “Cleveland Browns” on the chest, Dorsey addressed the Cleveland media about the decision to sign Hunt.

“I do understand with situations like this the complexities of the issues,” Dorsey said without reading from a prepared statement.

He continued, noting Hunt “is extremely remorseful for his actions” and has taken responsibility for his issues.

Hunt is taking counseling, “working towards being a better man moving forward,” Dorsey explained.

“By no means from an organizational standpoint is this a guarantee of anything. As we all know, trust has to be earned, and that has to be earned with the Cleveland Browns organization going forward.”

Interestingly, Dorsey did not name Hunt by name. The Browns GM referred to him as “this player” and “he”, never using Hunt’s name.
