John Dorsey challenges David Njoku to improve his run blocking

In his scouting combine press conference, Browns GM John Dorsey didn’t want to talk at all about players on other teams, but he had no problem discussing his own guys. One in particular was tight end David Njoku, who earned both praise and a challenge from the man responsible for his employment.

One of the early questions in Dorsey’s 20-minute session on Thursday morning brought heaps of praise for Njoku. The GM praised the young right end’s work ethic and ability to create problems for defenses. He shied away from comparing him to Travis Kelce in Kansas City — once again, Dorsey wouldn’t talk about players for other teams in any context. But he was bullish on Njoku.

Later, Dorsey threw out a challenge for his third-year tight end. He addressed Njoku directly as if he was standing in front of him,

“I know one thing that I’d like to see. Improve your run blocking. David has got all the elements to be a really nice pass-catching TE who can run after the catch. So I challenge him here today, you know what, improve your run blocking.”
