John Dorsey admits he’s contacted the agents for Eric Berry and Tre Boston

Speaking with reporters at the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix, Browns GM John Dorsey admitted he is looking for more safety help. Dorsey specifically mentioned both Tre Boston and Eric Berry as possibilities and acknowledged he has engaged in discussions with their agents.

Dorsey said of the two veteran free agents,

“I think they’re both really good football players who we’ve had discussions with their representatives and that’s where we are right now,” via Cleveland.com.

Berry has strong ties to Dorsey from the GM’s time running the Kansas City Chiefs. When healthy, Berry was a perennial Pro Bowler and impact talent. However, he has played in just three regular-season games since 2016 and has not finished any of those games due to various maladies.

Boston is a familiar face for new defensive coordinator Steve Wilks, who coached him in both Carolina and Arizona. Boston is a player we brought up as someone the team should have an interest in signing recently.

Don’t expect anything immediate. Dorsey stated he will wait until after the meetings are over before getting serious in contract negotiation.
