John Cotter hopes Mark O'Sullivan return can spark Cork City revival

Hitman Mark O'Sullivan has returned to goal-shy Cork City and boss John Cotter believes his arrival can spark a Leesiders revival.

But Garry Comerford has left the club just six months into a two year contract due to lack of first team opportunities.

"I'm thrilled to be back at City," said 36-year-old marksman O'Sullivan, who was most recently with non-league Avondale.

"I had a very enjoyable time here previously, and am looking forward to working with John Cotter and the lads again.”

Cotter said: "It's great news, Marky returning will give everyone a lift. "

Recent new signing Joel Coustrain made his LOI debut against Bohs for Shamrock Rovers and it's the Gypsies who will provide the opposition for his first game for City tonight.

And Limerick-born Coustrain wants to show he deserved more game time with the Hoops.

"Kind of, but just to prove to myself...I thought I did alright last season but I've seen a few tweets saying you're this and that," he said.

"But it would be good to come in and prove to the fans, prove to myself and to the team is the main thing, to go and do well.

"You get it in any job, but football more so. You have to block it out, keep positive and keep confident."

The winger was close to joining Cork two years ago after a trial. "I really liked it here so as soon as they came calling, I jumped at it," he said.

"It should be good against Bohs, it should be exciting. Hopefully I can create a dew things, I think that's what they've been lacking a little bit".
