John Cooney outlines simple life philosophy and fans absolutely love it

John Cooney proved his class with a player of the match display for Ulster on Saturday.

Cooney excelled with the boot as he kicked four conversions and a penalty in the province's 31-24 victory over the Sharks.

The scrum-half started in Durban to help Ulster inject some impetus back into their United Rugby Championship assault.

They went into Saturday's game with just two wins from their previous six games.

Cooney's international career has come under the spotlight recently, with the 32-year-old - who has been capped 11 times by Ireland - becoming Scottish qualified last Thursday under new World Rugby laws.

But he shrugged off any excess publicity to star in South Africa, and afterwards he revealed 'two things' he lives by.

He said on Twitter: "There’s 2 things that I live by these days. 1. I come into work with the same attitude every week. Win, lose or draw - I try to be the exact same. I go to work!!!

"2. I’m incredibly lucky to get to do what I do, represent this club & to still love what I do. Blessed."

Fans were quick to praise Cooney's philosophy.

Roger said: "Such a great approach- and it pays off with performances like that!"

Stephen added: "Love this attitude John. Great win today!"

Jonathan said: "Superb performance John… why oh why have @UlsterRugby not been starting you the last lot of games … best #9 in the province."

Zach said Ulster were "blessed" to still have Cooney on board, while another fan said: "You're a class act John."
