John Collins baffled by Rangers' Kemar Roofe appeal as former Celtic star blasts 'dangerous' challenge

John Collins has been left bemused by Rangers' appeal of Kemar Roofe 's SFA charge.

Roofe was pulled up by the compliance officer on Friday afternoon for a crunching tackle on St Johnstone 's Murray Davidson during the sides' Premiership encounter on Wednesday night.

It was a hard tackle on the Perth Saints midfelder but Roofe received only a yellow card at the time as referee David Munro didn't think the incident warranted a sending-off.

But that wasn't the view of those at Hampden as the Englishman now faces a fast-track hearing on Tuesday.

It's an opinion shared by former Celtic and Monaco star Collins who admitted he can't see why the Ibrox side are fighting the governing body charge.

He told BBC Sportsound : “I don’t understand why they are appealing that.

“ I think he’s high, he’s over the ball and he’s caught the guy on the ankle.

“Anybody that has watched that and says that’s not dangerous or could cause an injury is not seeing what I’m seeing.”
