John Clayton has Seahawks selecting pass rusher in latest mock draft

It’s been nearly a month since the official start of the new league year yet teams are continuing to add to their rosters ahead of this year’s NFL draft.

The Seahawks, always on the hunt to beef up their defensive line, signed two edge players just this week in Cassius Marsh and Nate Orchard. But that certainly doesn’t mean Seattle won’t target a pass rusher come April.

In his latest mock draft for the Washington Post, 710 ESPN Seattle’s John Clayton believes Seattle could use the No. 21 overall selection on defensive end/linebacker Brian Burns out of Florida State to do just that.

“The Seahawks have just four draft choices, and they are expected to try to trade down to collect more,” Clayton notes. “But if Burns fell to this spot, he’d be a great fit for a defense that needs a better pass rush this season.”

Nearly every draft pundit and analyst have the Seahawks selecting a defensive player should they retain their first-round selection. But with just four picks to play with and a relatively deep defensive draft, the chance to re-stock more capital might prove irresistible.
