John Cena made a surprise return at Money In The Bank and WWE fans lost it

It’s been more than a year since WWE legend John Cena appeared during a WWE event, but on Sunday night at Money In The Bank in Fort Worth, Cena shocked a raucous crowd by interrupting a Roman Reigns promo.

We last saw Cena at WrestleMania 36 in an experimental “Firefly Fun House” match with Bray Wyatt in April of 2020. He’s since been extremely busy with his acting career, and is starring in three major 2021 releases, including F9 and The Suicide Squad.

Cena has always been a polarizing figure in WWE,  but for what might be the first time, it seemed like everyone was happy to see him walk down a WWE ramp.

After the show ended, Cena promised fans in the arena that his return isn’t a one-off. WWE fans are used to megastars of older eras returning for spot appearances and short runs leading into big events like SummerSlam or WrestleMania – but according to Cena, his appearance was not a “one night only.” WWE has announced that he will return Monday night on Raw.
