John Carney reached out to Vikings about kicking-coach gig

Mike Zimmer hinted this offseason that the Vikings could be interested in a kicking coach after all the trouble the team has had at that position through the years.

One person who offered his services was 23-year NFL veteran John Carney who made two Pro Bowls.

“I did offer my services on a part-time basis,” Carney said via the Pioneer Press. “I do run a business in California, so I couldn’t do a full-time deal … It would be difficult to close (the Carney Training Facility) down for five months.”

Carney hinted that the Vikings are likely looking for a full-time coach, so Carney won’t be the guy.

This makes it seem like that Vikings are more than likely to hire a kicking coach if they are looking for a full-time coach.

The Vikings will bring back kicker Dan Bailey in 2019. In 14 games with the club last season, Bailey was 21-for-28.

The Vikings signed Bailey after released fifth-round pick Daniel Carlson after just two games.
