John Boyega says he could ‘show them something different’ as the next James Bond

John Boyega is the latest celebrity to throw his hat in the ring to be the next James Bond.

With Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007 scheduled for release in April next year, stars are lining up to be the next actor to assume the iconic role.

During an interview with MTV News, the actor opened up about what he could bring to the table as the legendary spy.

When asked whether the part was something that Boyega saw for himself in the future, he replied: “Hey listen, [with] Steve McQueen directing, let’s do this. We could show them something different.”

The 28-year-old continued: “We’ll still bring that sophistication – you know, James Bond has to be James Bond. But we could do something with that.”

Boyega’s comments come after his Small Axe co-star Letitia Wright said that he would “love” to be Craig’s successor.

When offered the choice between Boyega or Get Out’s Daniel Kaluuya as the next Bond, Wright replied: “Daniel is the, he’s the ‘do the work and stay behind’ [type]. He likes to stay low-key. So that’s too much."

Rumours continue to suggest that Tom Hardy is the current front-runner for the part, with The Wire’s Idris Elba also reportedly in the mix.

Man of Steel star Henry Cavill also recently nominated himself for the coveted role, stating: “I would absolutely jump  at the opportunity.”

Last month, however, the film’s producer Barbara Broccoli revealed that the franchise has not yet chosen their next spy. She said: “For now, we just cannot think about anything beyond Daniel.”
