John Boyega has shared his own version of the Cats trailer, in which he replaces all the characters’ faces with his own.
The Star Wars actor shared the joke trailer on his Instagram, alongside the caption: “The litter box scene was absolutely disgusting to shoot.”
In the clip, he dances as Francesca Hayward’s Victoria the White Cat and sings “Memory” as Jennifer Hudson's Grizabella. He also attempts magic as Laurie Davidson’s Mr Mistoffelees.
Last year, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker beat Cats at the box office, with Cats grossing £5m on its opening weekend, compared to The Rise of Skywalker’s £135.5m.
Cats, which stars Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, Judi Dench and Ian McKellen, had an extremely poor critical reception, dominating headlines for its strange use of CGI.
It was awarded two stars by The Independent’s critic Clarisse Loughrey, who wrote that the film is “one of those rare cinematic events that feels like a collective hallucination”.
