John Bishop in Land Rover crash after driver swerves to miss 'big chicken'

John Bishop has posted an image of the aftermath of a car accident he was involved in while driving in Ireland.

The comedian was trying to catch a ferry in Ireland when he swerved to avoid a car after an animal had walked into the road.

The 54-year-old came out of the wreckage unharmed - but shared an image of his car after it had crashed into a barrier at the side of the road.

The comic, who was born in Liverpool and grew up in Runcorn, also posted an image with the two police officers who helped him out following the accident.

The caption read: "I was driving to catch a ferry to Ireland when something happened!! To avoid a car that was swerving to avoid a 'big chicken' as I overtook I ended up like this.

"Nobody was hurt thanks to @landrover_uk being brilliant and no oncoming traffic. I missed my ferry but went on as a foot passenger on a later one thank to James and Tony from @dyfedpowyspolice.

"Amazing how helpful people can be when you need them and thanks to the other drivers for staying including Andrew who I think sadly hit the 'big chicken' anyway."

And fans of the comedian have got in touch to send messages to wish him well:

alisonkirk66 said: "Ouch! At least you are ok John! Cars can be mended or replaced"

jules.r.51 commented: "Glad no-one was hurt. Take care"

jodie_dascombe added: "Glad you’re ok"

The comedian also received a message from the Heddlu Dyfed-Powys Police force who helped him out.

The post said: "Hi John, pleased that you have arrived safe, take care!"
