John Beaton to referee Celtic vs Hibs Premier Sports Cup Final as SFA confirm team for big occasion

John Beaton will referee the Premier Sports Cup Final between Celtic and Hibs.

The December 19 showdown is the first opportunity to win silverware in Scotland.

And either Ange Postecoglou or Jack Ross will be holding up their first ever major Scottish trophy by the end of the day at Hampden.

Last month Postecoglou’s Parkhead side saw off St Johnstone 1-0 to end the Perth side’s possession of both domestic cups.

And a day later Ross saw his Hibs put in the finest performance of his Easter Road reign against Premiership champions Rangers, with Martin Boyle scoring a hat-trick in a 3-1 win.

Beaton will be assisted by linesmen Graeme Stewart and Calum Spence and fourth official Greg Aitken.

The SFA whistler was recently in charge for the Hibees' clash against Rangers at home, with Beaton awarding a late penalty to the Gers after Ryan Porteous clipped Ryan Kent in the area.
