John Bateman's stay-at-home gym has had fans in stitches

Wigan Warriors might have suspended training, but it hasn't stopped John Bateman from preparing for the new season.

The Warriors' new marquee man has revealed his very own stay-at-home gym constructed in his Bradford backyard while the club's Robin Park is in lockdown.

Last year's Grand Finalists have shut down their training facility after a breakout of Covid-19, with the players set to remain at home until Thursday at the earliest.

With just over a month to go until the season starts, England international Bateman has ensured his preparations have continued, even if it has been unconventional.

As part of his new training station, the club's new number 13 has used two bins to prop up a bar stacked with weights and an archaic bike that would probably stick out in the gym down at West Bowling. Only John Bateman!

Bateman has become something of a social media darling over the years, with a string of comical posts, often at his own expense, earning him plenty of interaction along the way.

He is back in Super League this year after a two-year hiatus, in which team he established himself as one of the world's best in the NRL with Canberra Raiders.

The England international returns with a target on his back, but with such dedication to training, we reckon he's going to be just fine.

Wigan start the season on March 26th when they take on Leigh Centurions, with Adrian Lam's side looking to make amends after suffering Grand Final heartbreak last year.
