John Barrowman has revealed Caprice and Hamish' s shock Dancing On Ice split has torn through the show like like a 'divorce in the family'.
The judge weighed in on the recent controversy at the National Television Awards , days after the unprecedented partner switch occured.
During an exclusive chat with Mirror Online, John said: "We've just had a divorce in the family and that's it and like any divorce that you have in the family as a family member you try not to take sides. We love both of them and Caprice is now skating with Oscar."
He went on: "Everybody is doing fine. They don't gave to get along with each other they just have to get along with it."
John also revealed he's found his own way of keeping Hamish busy now that he's not rehearsing with the model.
"Hamish and I skated today because I went back on the ice just for fun, " said John, who competed himself in 2006.
Asked about how Hamish is taking his reduced role in the competition, John joked: "Hamish is fine. I can't wait until he lifts me!"
Despite the obvious drama, John said the atmosphere backstage remains upbeat and he's having 'a ball' in his first year judging.
"Were a team and it's a great show to be part of.
"On the judging panel we're all having our own good time there and we're having a laugh too which is really important."
Of this year's contestants, he added: "It's great. It's very competitive, everyone's really excited.
Aside from Dancing On Ice, John has also been linked to another big entertainment show, The Masked Singer.
Over recent weeks viewers have shared growing speculation that John is behind the unicorn costume.
Asked about the rumours, John remained tight-lipped.
"If I was I wouldn't tell you and if I wasn't I wouldn't tell you either.
"But the unicorn is the best" he teased.
