John Barrowman 'devastated' after cancelling UK tour due to 'slow ticket sales'

John Barrowman has admitted that he's absolutely devastated after cancelling his UK tour due to 'slow ticket sales'.

The entertainer took to his social media to announce the news and tell fans that the tour would no longer be going ahead. This comes after he was accused last year of 'inappropriate behaviour' on the set of Doctor Who.

The 55-year-old previously apologised for "high-spirited behaviour and tomfoolery" after accusations surfaced that he had exposed himself on the set of the show, where he played the role of Captain Jack Harkness.

But despite wanting to move on from the accusations, John said he has found the last few years very difficult and he's very upset that he's had to cancel his tour.

In the statement, he said: "It is with huge regret that we have decided to cancel the UK tour. Unfortunately, ticket sales in certain parts of the UK have been slow, and with the increased costs of touring it is no longer economically viable to continue.

"This is a decision that has not been taken lightly, and I know many of my fans will be very upset, as am I. Personally I am devastated and like many people I have found the last years extremely difficult, possibly the hardest few years of my life. When it gets tough it is sometimes better to stop and re-evaluate and that is exactly what I am going to do. I am so sorry to all my fans."

And many fans flocked to the comments to send their support.

One wrote: "John, I’m disappointed that you can’t do the show. But I also understand and respect it, you have my support and I’m sure many more fans. Love you and stand by your side in all this. You take care of yourself and your family, us the fans are here for you."

While one added: "So so so sorry to hear this! I was so excited to see you in York but you’ve done what is best for you! We all understand next time we will all be there to support you!"

And another penned: "Very sad you've had to cancel the tour, but high praise to you for being so honest about the reason & not stringing people along with an excuse. I hope that the tour can be put on again in the near future."

Last year, John joined Lorraine Kelly on her show to talk about the accusations made against him. Lorraine asked him: "Do you think on reflection that you may have crossed a line?"

John replied: "I think if it was now, it would be crossing the line. I think that something that happened 15 years ago, it was body behaviour, silly behaviour, it was being done in the confines of the set and we were like a family, working together.

"The fact that it was stories I've already told, I've been telling them for years, I haven't hidden anything, they've been exaggerated and they've tried to turn them into sexual harassment which it absolutely is not."

"And the one thing for me, all the people that were making a fuss about it, they weren't there, they don't know the context of things that were done."

He added: "Like I said, I would never do it now, but what we're not allowing people and myself to do with the continued bashing, we're not allowing people to learn to adapt and to change, and that's the most important thing, I want to move on and I want to continued to move forward."
