John Barrowman 'clashes' with Ashley Banjo live on-air in heated Dancing On Ice spat

Dancing On Ice judges John Barrowman and Ashley Banjo 'clashed' live on-air during last night's episode over the scoring of a routine.

Contestants Libby Clegg and her partner, Mark Hanretty, skated to I Wanna Be Like You, from the Jungle Book, during a movie-themed instalment of the ITV dancing show.

After completing their routine, which contained a risky neck spin, several lifts and a required slide, the judges scored their efforts - but not all of them agreed with one another, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Every judge awarded Libby and Mark a nine for their routine, apart from John Barrowman, who scored them 8.5.

Justifying his score, John said: "I didn't like the bits on the floor. For me, it didn't add anything special to it, but I thought the neck spin was awesome.

Barrowman didn't like a particular section of the routine, but not everyone agreed (ITV)

"It's the semi-finals next week and we're looking for spectacular."

This didn't sit well with Ashley, who  interjected: "If that isn't spectacular I don't know what is.

"It's easy to stand up and carry on, but they didn't, they did something different.

"I'm in awe of you, Libby."

The pair continued to shout at each other and argue, before presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby  intervened to bring things back on track.

Holly said:"I need to separate them like my kids. You be careful, you boys."

The spat between the two judges certainly didn't go unnoticed on social media.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: "I actually agree with John Barrowman."

Another added: "Sorry but ... @JohnBarrowman was right."

Others sided with Ashely, as a third wrote: "John barrowman was so wrong in what he said about Libby's performance. It was brilliant #DancingOnIce."

A fourth said: "Like to see john barrowman pull off that skating with limited vision. And how fab does Libby look tonight? #Dancingonice."

Dancing On Ice continues at 6pm on ITV next Sunday
