A man was rescued Sunday after he fell into the South Branch of the Chicago River.

The 39-year-old was jogging about 4:15 a.m. in the 2900 block of South Ashland Avenue when he accidentally slipped and fell into the river, Chicago police said.

A crew member working on a barge spotted him and brought him onto their boat, police said.

The man was taken to the University of Illinois Hospital in good condition but complained of leg and stomach pain, police said.

The CPD Marine Unit responded but there were no other people in the water, police said.

On Friday, two people were found floating blocks away in the same branch of the river.
