Joey Veerman transfer latest as Rangers ‘make offer’ for midfield star

Rangers have made an offer to sign Heerenveen midfielder Joey Veerman, according to a report.

The Dutch midfielder is attracting widespread interest and Hellas Verona had an offer for him turned down last week.

And now Rangers have reportedly submitted an offer worth €4.5million for the 22-year-old, although it's highly likely that will be rejected.

Dutch outlet De Telegraaf say the bid is €1million less than what was offered by the Italian outfit so it's highly likely Heerenveen will be unwilling to accept it.

Steven Gerrard is believed to be a big fan of the midfield man, who has also been linked with moves to the likes of Feyenoord and Southampton.

He signed a four-year deal with the Eredivisie side last summer but is hoping to move away this year after an impressive campaign at the heart of their midfield.

Veerman has played 53 times for the Dutch side after coming through the ranks at Volendam.

He made 73 appearances there and has scored 23 goals in his career.

Rangers hope he can add a different edge to their side with the Ibrox men looking to add to their midfield.

They have already signed Nnamdi Oforborh and John Lundstram this season but doubts still remain over Glen Kamara’s future at the club.
