Joey Veerman transfer D Day as Rangers 'make offer' to rival Hellas Verona for Heerenveen star

Rangers have made Heerenveen an offer for Joey Veerman, according to a report in the Netherlands.

The Eredivisie star is a man in-demand this summer and it's stated his club already have a bid on the table from Serie A outfit Hellas Verona.

Veerman this week spoke out on his discontent with the situation, insisting Heerenveen's asking price is too high.

De Telegraaf report Rangers have offered £3.85million (€4.5m) for the 22-year-old midfielder.

The Dutch newspaper claim Verona's proposal is higher at almost £5m.

It's stated Veerman must decide whether he would prefer to link up with Steven Gerrard at the Premiership champions or join the Italians, after which Heerenveen would be open to negotiating a fee.

However, the club could demand almost £10m and that's left the player frustrated.

"I think the Italians have made a very reasonable offer, but when I hear what Heerenveen is asking, it can sometimes be a very difficult story," Veerman told Voetbal International last week. “Ten to twelve million euros, I think that's crazy.

"After a corona year with empty stadiums, the money is pretty much gone everywhere. I honestly don't think this makes any sense."
