Joey Veerman to Rangers transfer news as Dutch trend emerges in Ibrox summer plans

Rangers have shopped successfully on the continent in recent seasons and that trend could well continue this summer.

The Premiership champions have been linked with a move for Heerenveen midfielder Joey Veerman.

According to Voetball International, the 22-year-old is prepared to move on from the Eredivisie this summer.

Interest from France and Italy in the form of Stade de Reims and Atalanta has also been reported in the European media.

It's a measure of Veerman's impact this season in the Dutch top-flight, racking up nine goals and 10 assists this term.

He's unlikely to come cheap, however.

Before factoring in suitors from Serie A and Ligue 1 driving up the price, Veerman's recently extended contract with Heerenveen runs until 2024.

The report comes just days after Rangers were also touted for a move for Vitesse Arnhem defender Danilho Doekhi.

He's formed part of one of Europe's meanest defences this term, exploits which are said to have attracted the interest of Steven Gerrard.

It's a position the club are well stocked in already with Connor Goldson, Filip Helander, Leon Balogun, Jack Simpson, Nikola Katic and George Edmundson all on the books.

Additionally, Rangers already have midfield recruit heading to Glasgow this summer, with Nnamdi Ofoborh having already agreed a pre-contract to join from Bournemouth.
