Joey Veerman Rangers transfer stalemate as Heerenveen boss delivers 'clear' interest verdict

Heerenveen boss Johnny Jansen has played down talks of wantaway midfielder Joey Veerman moving to Rangers.

The midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premiership champions with Steven Gerrard reportedly an admirer of the 22-year-old.

With Hellas Verona also keen on the Dutchman, Veerman has hit out at his club’s valuation of him which he fears is scaring potential suitors off.

However, technical director Ferry de Haan still insists the club are holding out for top dollar with their valuation in the region of €10 million (£8.4million) this summer.

Jansen insists he isn't concerned that his key man will leave this summer having selected him for the clubs pre-season training camp.

When quizzed about interest from Rangers and Serie A side Verona he claimed there had been no movement and a departure was some way off.

Jansen told Dutch outlet Omrop Fryslan: "The state of affairs is that I don’t really know anything about (Veerman’s future).

“Ultimately, the ball is in Ferry de Haan’s court. If there is eventually interest in Veerman and it becomes clear, then it will be reported to me.

“But I haven’t heard anything about that, so it must be nothing to worry about.”
