Joey Veerman has been issued a contract reminder by Heerenveen’s new sporting director after being linked with Rangers all summer long.
The Dutch midfielder has been at the centre of a transfer saga involving the Eredivisie club, and interested parties such as Hellas Verona and the Gers.
But a move anywhere appears increasingly unlikely after
And he expects him to still be a Heerenveen player when the transfer window closes in ten days’ time.
He told ESPN: "As it stands now, I'm counting on that, yes. As far as we know, there is currently no movement around him.

“I think it is good that he has ambitions. And I also think it is good that he expresses those ambitions. A club like Heerenveen needs good transfers, that has been proven in the past. Joey still has a three-year contract and he knows it."
Veerman has made public his wish to play for a bigger club at a higher level.
Verona had a €5million bid rejected in the summer, with Hereenveen holding out for at least €10million.
Feyenoord were also keen, but eventually looked elsewhere when a move for Veerman started looking too expensive.
And it seems the Scottish Premiership champions were of the same opinion. Steven Gerrard added Curacao international Juninho Bacuna to his Ibrox squad on Thursday, singing the midfielder from Huddersfield Town for an undisclosed fee.

That would appear to close the door on a swoop for Veerman, who has consistently suggested he is being priced out of a move away last week when asked about whether he would be leaving for the fee demanded by Heerenveen.
He said last week: "In the end, that will not happen.
"You can ask what you want, but I don't think that's going to happen. I think you're worth as much as clubs are bidding.
"They've offered half of that 10 million. I don't think you can then say, 'you can be sold for 10 million'. Should it be possible for 7.5 million euros? I hope so, but that remains to be seen. I don't know."
