Bristling Joey Veerman has again indicated his frustration with Heerenveen's asking price.
The midfielder has been strongly linked with Rangers, Feyenoord and Hellas Verona this summer but time is running out for him to secure a transfer.
Feyenoord appear to have moved on after signing up Fredrik Aursnes from Molde, but any signing intent from Steven Gerrard or others must overcome a hefty valuation to become a reality.
Veerman, who played 90 minutes in his side's Eredivisie opener over Go Ahead Eagles on Friday, has three years remaining on his current contract.
And that means Heerenveen are likely comfortable sticking to their €10million (£8.5m) price-tag.
But he told ESPN.nl: “I think you are worth as much as the clubs offer.
“They have offered half of €10m. I don’t think you can say that I have to be sold for €10m.”
The 22-year-old Dutchman suggested he was growing tired of answering questions on his future and reiterated that it's up to Heerenveen to act on interest.
He added: “Yes, I get that question every week but I seriously can’t answer.
“There is nothing going on.
“There is interest, but for the rest it is up to Heerenveen to respond to it.
“I have often said that I want to take the next step, so I think that’s clear too.”
It's not the first time Veerman has offered a forthright opinion on his situation.
He said in July: "I think the Italians made a very reasonable offer, but when I hear what Heerenveen are asking, it becomes a very difficult story.
“€10-12m is crazy.
“After a corona year with empty stadiums, the money is pretty much gone everywhere so I don't think this makes any sense.
“The club say, ‘You still have a contract for three years. If it doesn't work out this year, we're going to enjoy you for another year and ask again next season’.
“I'm very sorry about that, because I'm ready for something else now.
“I'm having a good time in Heerenveen and I'm playing well, but I'm ready for a new challenge.
“The plan was to find it this summer, but I wonder if it will happen and I'm disappointed about that.
“There are several interested clubs that I am very positive about and Verona is one of them."
