Joey Veerman fires defiant Rangers shot as PSV star claims Ibrox heroes 'don't deserve' Champions League progress

Raging Joey Veerman insists Rangers don't deserve to be in the Champions League ahead of PSV Eindhoven – branding their playoff defeat "unfair" in his post match debrief.

Antonio Colak proved to be the difference maker in the playoff clash, after Malik Tillman capitalised on some sloppy defending between PSV keeper Walter Benitez and defender Andre Ramalho to slide the ball to the Croat. While the hosts threatened in the first-half at the Phillips Stadium, the Eredivise side looked toothless in the second half with crocked captain Luuk de Jong limping off at the break.

The long-time Ibrox target Veerman starred for Ruud van Nistelrooy’s outfit in both legs and insists that Rangers did not do enough to earn the place in the group stage. The defiant playmaker states the visitors did not create enough in the Netherlands and laying the blame of PSV's exit on his teammates costly mistake.

During his post-match debrief, he admitted the game shifted at half-time. Veerman told RTL : "Just before half-time we miss two big opportunities, that's where it goes wrong for us."

When asked if Rangers or PSV created enough to earn a spot in the group stage, he went on: "We haven't created enough, that's right. But Rangers certainly not, or am I wrong? Do I think it's fair that Rangers are playing in the Champions League at our expense? No definitely not."
