Joey Veerman continues to dazzle as Rangers target named in Eredivisie team of the week

Joey Veerman is continuing to impress despite a long transfer stand off with his club Heerenveen.

And now the Rangers linked midfielder has been named in the Eredivisie team of the week.

Steven Gerrard is said to be an admirer of the Dutch playmaker but he's not alone in that regard with Serie A upstarts Atalanta also said to be monitoring him.

Veerman is engaged in a war of words with his team's hierarchy and previously hit out at a "crazy" asking price that put the likes of PSV Eindhoven off earlier in the window.

But he remains professional on the park as he set up Tibor Halilovic for the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Go Ahead Eagles.

With Rangers bowing out of the Champions League against Malmo last week, it could affect their ability to bring in top targets such as Veerman without the £30m guaranteed cash on offer for making the group stage.

Verona have already had an offer rejected by Heerenveen but there has been no formal approach from Ibrox so far.
