Joey Veerman 'bid made' as Rangers target's club confirm they've received offer

Heerenveen have confirmed they have received a bid for Rangers target Joey Veerman.

The Dutch midfielder has been frustrated at his club for their refusal to budge on an asking price he views as excessive.

But the club’s technical director has admitted they are looking at offer on the table, although he hasn’t said who it is from.

Rangers are interested in signing him but face competition from the likes of Serie A outfit Hellas Verona this summer.

The Italian side have already had a bid rejected and reports in Holland suggested Rangers had made a move for him last week.

Steven Gerrard has plenty of options in the middle of the park with the signing of John Lundstram adding to an already talented midfield, but doubts remain over the future of Glen Kamara.

The Finland international is subject of interest from down south and abroad and is yet to sign an extended contract, with just two years left on his deal.

There's also concerns over the injury record of Ryan Jack while Steven Davis is advancing in years, leaving Gerrard with decisions to make.

But Ferry de Haan has warned Veerman that he remains under contract at the club did concede they were considering the bid.

He told ESPN: "Joey is a Heerenveen player and still has a three-year contract.

"A club has come forward and we have also indicated to Joey that we are looking at it. There is no further news."
