Joey Carbery expected to return for Munster against Leinster in Thomond Park showdown

Joey Carbery is expected back for Munster over the festive period and could face former club Leinster in their Thomond Park showdown on December 28.

Carbery hasn't played for the Reds since his World Cup return due to a continuation of the ankle issue that curtailed his involvement in Japan.

However fellow out-half Tyler Bleyendaal will be out for "a number of weeks" as he recuperates from neck stiffness, which means JJ Hanrahan will hold the fort again for Saturday's much-anticipated Thomond Park clash with Champions Cup holders Saracens in Limerick.

Better news for Johann van Graan is confirmation that in-form prop Jeremy Loughman doesn't need surgery after suffering an ankle injury in the drawn home Champions Cup pool clash with Racing 92.

Munster have put in additional seating for Saturday's showdown with the Premiership holders.

Due to demand, the capacity of the ground has been increased to 26,267, with over 23,000 tickets already snapped up by yesterday morning.

The additional seating will be located on the goal-line at both ends of the stadium.

The increase follows the sold out signs that went up for the first home pool game of this year's tournament, with 25,600 packed in to see Munster's thrilling draw with Racing - the biggest attendance recorded over the first two rounds of the competition.
