Former Manchester City player Joey Barton has launched a defence of Pep Guardiola after Saturday's Champions League defeat.
The Blues fell short in their first Champions League final against Chelsea in Porto as Kai Havertz's goal condemned City to defeat, with Guardiola's side unable to find an equaliser in the latter stages despite Sergio Aguero's entrance, his final appearance for the club.
In the aftermath of the game, Guardiola's team selection has come under scrutiny and the City boss has received some criticism for the defeat, although Barton has now passionately defended the Catalan on social media.
"Anyone having a shot at Pep Guardiola this morning really hasn’t a clue about football," Barton wrote.
"The man has redefined the game in this country. He has shown us how football can be played.
