Joelinton 'spotted' at St James' Park as Newcastle United close in on club record signing

Eagle-eyed Newcastle United fans have posted pictures of what appears to be Hoffenheim striker Joelinton at St James’ Park ahead of his potential club record deal.

The Brazil striker and pictures of him on Tyneside were circulating on social media on Tuesday lunchtime as Newcastle work to finally broker the deal.

Lee Charnley and Steve Bruce were later spotted at St James' Park ahead of the deal.

A fan who was sent the picture said the striker was being escorted around the stadium.

Tours of St James’ Park are taking place during the summer holidays, so it’s no surprise he was spotted.

Newcastle hope to wrap up the deal for their long-standing target soon before moving onto other business.

They still want to bring in another striker, a winger and a left-back – with Bruce ideally clinching five deals before the August 8 deal.

But the Joelinton capture is the one the club really wanted, with the striker lined up even before Rafa Benitez left. And now it appears as if the deal will be announced soon.
