Joelinton reveals 'dream' of 'Big Six' transfer and his desire for Champions League football

Joelinton admits it would be a 'dream' to sign for one of the Premier League's so-called 'Big Six' club and has stressed his desire to play Champions League football once again.

Newcastle United's record signing has endured a testing two seasons on Tyneside so far, with the Brazilian struggling to deliver on the expectations of the famous number nine shirt and the £40m transfer fee.

Joelinton has netted just ten times in black-and-white so far, with a nightmare debut campaign yielding just two Premier League goals.

However, the 25-year-old showed signs of improvement towards the latter stages of last season when used as a support striker in a front two.

Joelinton has previously enjoyed Champions League football in the 2018/19 season with Hoffenheim before completing his record-breaking switch to St James' Park.

The forward insists the Magpies are a 'great club', but is keen to return to Europe's elite competition by delivering a 'better season' for Steve Bruce's side.

When asked if he could reach a 'Big Six' club, Joelinton told Brazilian outlet UOL : "It's a dream. Newcastle are a great club, but they are below those others.

"I know that to get to this level I need to work harder and make a better season than what I've done here. I want to play in the Champions League again, but that just depends on what I do at Newcastle.

"Things happen very fast in football. It is to keep working, confident, with positive thinking."
