Joel Pereira returns to Manchester United

Joel Pereira has returned to Manchester United for treatment on an injury he sustained during Hearts' SPL meeting with Celtic over the weekend.

Pereira was making just his second appearance for the Edinburgh outfit as they went down to a 3-1 defeat at Parkhead.

The 23-year-old completed the full 90 minutes of the match and his injury is not thought to be serious.

The Edinburgh Evening News report that Pereira is hoping to be fit enough to return to action for Hearts after the upcoming international break.

Pereira, who made two appearances during United's pre-season tour of Australia and Southeast Asia, is contracted to the Old Trafford club until 2021.

Speaking during the tour, Pereira, who always intended to spend this season out on loan, said he was feeling good ahead of the new campaign.

"I feel amazing," he said. "I have been working very hard. Physically I feel great. I have prepared myself for this moment and I am feeling really well. I am just trying to give my best every day in training.

"I think all of the club has been behind me for the last few years and to have Ole behind me is just amazing.

"He is an amazing person and an amazing coach. I just want to give my best for him and for the club. It is great to have that backing.”
