There are typically negative narratives associated with Ohio State Football, even coming off an impressive win, and many of them are for unfair reasons.
The Buckeyes have improved every single game this season, but you wouldn’t think that. In the preseason AP Poll, Ohio State was ranked No. 3 in the country, only to “struggle” against Indiana on opening weekend and be dropped to No. 5.
Buy Buckeyes TicketsThe following week after defeating Youngstown State, another drop, this time to No. 6 while other teams struggled and the Buckeyes made improvements. This week they remained in the same spot. Texas, Michigan, Georgia and Florida State weren’t very impressive, but they remained above Ohio State.
Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt has noticed this and on his podcast, “The Joel Klatt Show,” he explained the bias toward the Buckeyes. He explained “the level of scrutiny and perfection that we throw on their back, and the completely unrealistic expectations on a week-to-week basis. They have to win by 100 or else it’s like ‘what’s wrong with Ohio State?”’

Although Klatt is defending the Buckeyes, he finishes by saying that the top 11 teams, could be put anywhere in the rankings. His main point is correct, that Ohio State is held to a much different standard than other schools.
And, we might add, he had Ohio State right about where the rest of the national media does, so there’s that.
