Joel Glazer softening Man Utd transfer stance sums up what he thinks about Ralf Rangnick

Joel Glazer is giving Ralf Rangnick the freedom to rebuild Manchester United with the interim boss prepared to sell the co-owner's 'favourite' player.

The Frenchman has expressed his desire to leave the club and it's claimed the Red Devils are willing to grant his wish as they look to trim their squad in the upcoming transfer window.

it's not the first time Martial's future has been up in the air as the winger has been a frustratingly inconsistent player at Old Trafford since arriving from Monaco.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer called Martial’s focus and commitment into question - just like Jose Mourinho did when he was manager, but the player has always been given another chance.

In May 2019, we reported that Martial’s future at Man United was secure because he was viewed as the club’s “Pele” by Glazer.

The Times then claimed that a figure close to Jose Mourinho suggested Martial’s "head was in the clouds” but he never expected United to sell him due to Glazer’s fondness of the Frenchman.

Martial then enjoyed an upturn in form and was rewarded with a new contract that runs until 2024.

But that looks to be a bad investment as the forward has fallen by the wayside once again this season, making it clear he wants to leave Old Trafford.

Juventus are seriously considering a move for Martial with United 'willing to sell' the 26-year-old, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport.

This would indicate Glazer has softened his stance on Martial and is putting more trust in Rangnick to put his own stamp on United despite the United chief's personal feelings towards the player.

Martial's agent Philippe Lamboley has also gone public with his client's desire to seek pastures new in January.

He told Sky Sports: "Anthony (Martial) wishes to leave the club in January.

"He just needs to play. He doesn't want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon."

Rangnick insists he has not heard anything from the forward, but has warned that he should tell him directly if he's unhappy, instead of communicating through his agent.

He said: "I don't communicate with agents via the media or the press. The player hasn't spoken with me or with us about it... to be honest, what his agent has said in the media is not that much of interest."

Asked whether he would speak to the forward about his agent's admission, Rangnick added: "No, because then I'd react to what the agent has said.

"It should be the player. If a player wishes to go to another club, it should be the player who informs either the board or myself, whoever.

"I have never spoken to a player via media or agents."
