Joel Embiid makes a Warriors ‘3-1’ joke after beating Brooklyn in Game 4

There are some things that you’re never going to be able to escape, and for the Golden State Warriors, it’s blowing a 3-1 series lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 NBA Finals.

The Warriors set the single-season record for wins with 73, ran through the Western Conference in route to the NBA Finals, and after Game 4, it appeared as if the team was on its way to its second consecutive title, but LeBron James and Kyrie Irving were able to will the Cavaliers back from a 3-1 series deficit to win Game 7 and the series.

After the loss, social media was on fire for an entire summer with 3-1 jokes, and even some NBA players joined in on the fun. While it’s been three years since the loss, Joel Embiid is still finding ways to bring it back into the lexicon.

Embiid raised some eyebrows earlier in the series when he laughed during an apology for hitting Jarrett Allen in the face with an elbow. Here, Embiid makes the joke and Jimmy Butler gets up from the podium while trying to contain his laughter.

At the end of the day, it’s all fun and entertaining. The Warriors have won two titles since losing to the Cavaliers and are still the favorites to win it all again this year. Embiid has been a jokester since he’s entered the league, his team is winning and he’s having fun. No harm, no foul.
