He banned her from watching him on Geordie Shore - so now BRIT awards nominee Joel Corry is bringing his mum to Tuesday night’s ceremony.
So she’ll finally see him in action - just a more appropriate kind...
The DJ is nominated as Male Solo Artist, Breakthrough Artist and British Single of the Year for his No. 1 hit Head & Heart,
“It’s such a big moment for me, and after all the years of my mum being there watching me try to make this dream come true, to get these nominations is definitely a big moment for her,” says Joel, who has since treated her to a fancy kettle as thanks.
“My mum never watched Geordie Shore,” – famed for sex, booze and brawling, he adds, having warned her: “Um, no - you don’t want to watch this...”
But teacher Debbie was happy to see him on Strictly Come Dancing last year.
“That’s her favourite show - all her friends and all the other teachers at school were going mad in the staff room about it,” says Joel, who is currently single after splitting from Sophie in 2017.
“I’m working around the clock at the moment.
“I know it’s a bit of a cliche, but I’m of kind of married to my work," says Joel, who is also taking the rest of his family along to the event at London’s O2.
