Joejuan Williams is a film junkie: ‘I watch film like I watch Games of Thrones’

In his first interview after being drafted by New England, Williams highlighted a number of qualities that show why the Patriots thought so highly of him. He went so far as to compare his passion for watching game to viewing the HBO series “Game of Thrones.”

“I want to be a coach after this game is over with,” Williams told reporters on Friday night after the Patriots drafted him. “And so this is just helping me get to that level before I become like a GA [graduate assistant] or an intern so I don’t have to cram for everything. This is football, something I love doing and have been doing this since I was five.

“I watch film like I watch Games of Thrones or something. But that’s just who I am. Football runs in my blood. That’s definitely how I work.”

It’s always refreshing to get a lighter side of these athletes and see their personalities shine through a bit. Joejuan Williams will bring leadership and intelligence to New England. He described himself as the complete package.

“I can run, cover and hit,” he said. “At the end of the day, if you look at all of my numbers in the SEC, I was ranked first in everything, whether it was passes defended, pass break-ups, interceptions as a corner, solo tackles as a corner.”

At the moment, it certainly does feel like Williams can seat himself on the iron throne in Foxborough.
