Joe Worrall's cutting response as former Nottingham Forest teammate joins Derby County

Former Nottingham Forest loanee Kieran Dowell has crossed the divide and signed for the Reds’ bitter enemies Derby County.

The Everton midfielder has joined the Rams on a season-long loan, two years after he put pen to paper for a spell at the City Ground – becoming new boss Phillip Cocu’s first recruit at Pride Park.

And Dowell’s choice of club has prompted a brilliantly funny response from one of his former Forest teammates.

Dowell made 43 appearances in the Garibaldi, scoring 10 goals, throughout the 2017/18 campaign.

He became close pals with Reds defender Joe Worrall during his time on the banks of the River Trent, with the pair also playing together for England Under-21s.

But Worrall, a boyhood Forest fan who is never shy when it comes to showing his love for the club, is well aware what it means to head up the other end of Brian Clough Way.

Following Dowell being unveiled by Derby, the centre-back tagged his ex-colleague in a tweet which showed a picture of the two of them in happier times - only, no doubt with tongue firmly in cheek, there was a big red cross covering Dowell’s face!

It should add even more spice to the East Midlands derbies this time, with the first meeting between the two rivals taking place at the City Ground on November 9 and the return fixture on April 4.
